Integrated Curriculum & Lesson Plans
Objective
To provide a curriculum-sharing platform that showcases exemplary teaching of integrated curriculum units centered upon
Islamic Education for use by teachers in K-12 schools. Each unit will guide students through an interdisciplinary approach
that integrates math, science, language, social studies, life skills and Islamic/religious studies.
Inspiration
This effort reflects a contemporary revival in education that historically created a renowned scholar, warrior, saint, hero such as Emir Abdelkader, who was taught subjects and skills across disciplines - from horsemanship to critical thinking and analysis - ensuring that he became a just and capable leader for his people; and now, a teacher for the world. The Emir is joined, for example, by Amadou Bamba from Senegal and Lubna of Cordoba, allowing students to see how all facets of knowledge allows one to lead a life of benefit to humanity. Character education is core to our ‘integrated Islamic education.’
